Rough road ahead? More on intersection project

Flower'smake the right turn only. Then do two lanes to go out Pike,now only one lane that we have. Comming down the pike st. to turn right on 7th st.you can use a piece of land on the corrner to make 2 lanes,one going streight up 7th and the other turning right on Green ST. Draw yourselves a picture so what you think.We gave the College 5th st whic alot of people used it. The light's will need changed but i think we could do that. Something to think about.

What i think need's to be done is Comming down Green St to turn right on 7th is good. Comming down 7th to turn Green St would still be good. Then we have two lanes one to turn left on 7th not good. And one to go out Pike St. not good. I think sence our CITY GAVE AWAY 5TH ST. TO THE COLLEGE & FOR WHAT I HEAR IS OUR CITY IS GOING TO GIVE AWAY BUTLER ST.FROM 4TH TO 7TH TO THE COLLEGE. THAT'S A NO NO. Plus Mayor Nancy stopped us from using OHIO ST . with her (WATER FOUNTAIN). Enough GIVING OUR STREET"S UP. I think the COLLEGE should help us out by giving the City a piece of their land that we need to fix our intersection. We have now 2 lanes comming fron Putnam ST. to 7th and in front of Speed way we haveone going streight out Pike St. And one turning down green St. Well here goes remove our little flower planter and have that removied.Then you can make 2 lanes to go out Pike st unstead of one lane. Orget the College to give the City a piece of the land on the other side of the(

Did you know The Pledge of Allegiance was written by a Socialist? The Paranoia of Communism and the Cold War cause Eisenhower to add "under God". wps3417: no problem. Funny thing is that every meeting it seems they talk about re-timing the lights as the simplest way to make a change without spending money. They could do this while continuing to study options. Simply by extending the time between when the light turns red at Pike and Green and the light turns green at Seventh in front o Speedway by maybe 5 seconds…………………..

Stiff! But, this is paving the way to the capitalism you have been stammering for. People will be able to get to wal mart more quickly, buy all the cheap goods and enrich commerce. It might slow things down for awhile, but just think of the boom afterward. Your arguing against this reminds me off all those people (what would you call them - communists?) in Nebraska who prevented the oil pipeline from Alberta going through their state.

The White house has PLENTY of racists in it, just most are on your side of racism which you find endearing and leadership worthy. Stiff the article is about a traffic change in marietta which has nothing to do with Barack and Michelle Obama , or Jackson pool or burr oak , or lookout park. Thank goodness this debacle-in-the-making is being reconsidered!

I did think it was funny that when it was pointed out what would happen when Pike Street flooded, council quickly said a detour could be created, allowing a left turn from 7th to Greene. I don't believe they had thought of the flood situations before. Seems like this little detail might have slipped their minds.

I've said from the start this is a flawed design. Just because there is available money for the intersection changes doesn't mean it's going to work. Throw out those plans and get back to the basics of changing the light timing.

If people are so concerned about the "big city" traffic on Pike St., there are other ways that will take you to Norwood...Colgate to Greene is an easy, low traffic way. So it's a few blocks farther-it's quicker, especially if you aren't coming from downtown.....no lights, no traffic turning into fast food joints.

Mr. Brightbill, traffic is prevented from making a left turn onto Phillips from Acme, as it should be. That street appears to be the most narrow two way street in the city, no wider than Union St, which most think of as an alley. That section of Phillips should be one way from Greene to Acme.

There are some very easy fixes at this intersection without sacrificing safety or ease of travel. They do not sacrifice turns to and from Greene St. Start by synchronizing the lights.

Mr. Thomas, there are already ADA compliant crosswalks at the intersection. There aren't crosswalks for anyone across Pike except at Pike and Wayne, and going south until one reaches the intersection at Greene and the Williamstown Bridge. It's not always about ADA.

Some of you continue to throw barbs at the "clowncil" and "Democrat administration." You have three, and maybe five council members, who oppose this plan. You have a Democrat mayor who wishes to go ahead with this. And you have the appointed administration, who are Republicans. It's not the "good old boy" network we need to be concerned about. It's the mayor's network with his former "military" cronies that needs to be closely looked at.

Also at that meeting it was said that the least thing the City could do in the meantime was to RE-TIME ALL THE LIGHTS AT THOSE INTERSECTIONS. During the last public meeting on Dec 12, 2012 on this project part of the presentation was devoted to a six Roundabout configuration called Alternative “C”. Even though it was not part of the preferred design at that time roundabouts were not eliminated. Since the “preferred” concept has met disapproval from the public, they should reconsider alternative C which was called “Alternative C – 6 Roundabout Configurations” in their presentation. The pikegreen7th**** info website is still active and discusses roundabouts extensively.
