We never know when a disaster might strike. I try to be as prepared as possible with extra food and water in storage and with cash where I can get to it. Mr. Chamberlain must have lived with this memory for the rest of his life, like those who lived through Katrina and Sandy will do. I'm thankful for memoirs and history to help us plan better and reflect on the strengths of those who have survived such catastrophes. My thanks to those who preserved this story and shared it.
