I think having more functions in the park is a terrific idea. The Sweet Corn festival was much better in the park than in front of the Armory like they did for a couple of years.

2 issues with that: 1.The point is to bring folks down town, not away from downtown. The bars are most certainly NOT the only businesses who prosper from downtown events, especially family friendly events.

2. The fairgrounds is cost prohibitive for small events. Paying the fairgrounds a couple of thousand dollars can break a small event.

W H A T ? NO Grant funding for this? Realistically the Fair Grounds already has electric shade restrooms and more than the park can provide you should follow the lead of Marietta's best charity event Broughton's Ice Cream event. You don't see them begging to put electric in a park where there are no restrooms only porta johns.

If other festivals had a sugar-daddy like Broughton's to fund the majority of the event, perhaps more events could follow the Ice Cream Social's lead. Unfortunately most event have to pay for themselves and then try to make money. Try to help organize one of these events before you start putting them down.

I have had lunch sitting at the bar at the Town House at least a hundred or so times and think it is a great place. With that said, if I am coming downtown to the corn festival I don't think my second stop is the Town House. LOL

The fairgrounds is more suited. The park is for peace and enjoyment of nature. Leave it that way.

The biggest problem voiced by visitors last summer, not enough bathroom facilities down town and at park.
