@stonecold: In the words of Colin Powell, "[F]ar from being the Great Satan, I would say that we are the Great Protector. We have sent men and women from the armed forces of the United States to other parts of the world throughout the past century to put down oppression. We defeated Fascism. We defeated Communism. We saved Europe in World War I and World War II. We were willing to do it, glad to do it. We went to Korea. We went to Vietnam. All in the interest of preserving the rights of people. And when all those conflicts were over, what did we do? Did we stay and conquer? Did we say, "Okay, we defeated Germany. Now Germany belongs to us? We defeated Japan, so Japan belongs to us"? No. What did we do? We built them up. We gave them democratic systems which they have embraced totally to their soul. And did we ask for any land? No, the only land we ever asked for was enough land to bury our dead. And that is the kind of nation we are."

If it were your son, it would be your choice. It's not. As a mother who has also lost a 21 year old son, I assure you the parents are not aware that you have an opinion, and wouldn't change their decision if they were. This is about a son lost, not what if's. Josh shared that space with hundreds of other kids through his high school years, and I personally would be more concerned about the damage you might cause to your own children, if you have any, by being insensitive and indifferent to the family that didn't have years, months or even weeks to think about where, how or why they would bury their own child. Yes we are all entitled to opinions, and you have given yours. Now I hope you can grow up overnight, and leave it to the family to decide what is best for them and the masses. Time is better spent supporting the grieving rather then causing dissention over this. My heart hurts deeply for them.

I shouldn't say "normal" because there is nothing normal about burying a young man, It is the right thing to do

I have 2 sons at the high school and just asked them how they felt about having the funeral there, There answer was He has given the ultimate sacrifice and having his funeral at his high school is just the normal thing to do.

I had not read the story and just drove down Route 7 and there are thousands of folks lining the road in respect. It caught me by surprise. The people of our community are just wonderful.

To Joshua's family: Please ignore any comments that do not pertain to how wonderful your son was. I hope, actually that you do not read these comments at all. I am appalled at them myself.

To watchdog1 - I don't agree with wonderwoman00, either, but she'l entitled to her opinion. People like Josh have died to make sure that freedom remains. People may not care about your opinion, either, but you're allowed to have it.

Come on Wonderwoman00 give me a break. The reason that they are having it at the school is because of the large amount of people that are going to come and give their condolances to him and his family. This young man touched a lot of lives in his short time and he is going to have a very large memorial service. Quit being so petty on where the service is held and think out of the box and feel some compassion for this family. It is going to be on Saturday the children aren't even going to be at the school.

To wonderwoman00,

I hope having this funeral a the school DOES scare the children and makes them understand that war is a bad thing. That it should ALWAYS be a last resort and not something our country rushes into and acts like it can't survive without.

No other country on Earth has been officially at war as large a percentage of its history as the USA has.

My heart breaks for Josh's family and the families of all of those who have lost and sacrificed so much. May God comfort and bless them and may we learn to live peacefully with one another.
