Tessie, the Washington County Health Department has extended hours every Wednesday until 6. The hours you are citing are for the Marietta City Health Department.

There was no place to comment on the extended hours for immunizations in today's (Saturday) paper, found in Around Town, so I will do so here.

I think it would be wise for the health department nurses to visit schools instead of expecting parents and caregivers to leave work or find transportation to and from the Health Department. Current hours are 8-4 Mon-Fri, i.e school hours. Hours have been added one Monday a month extending hours to 6:30. It seems more cost effective to get permission slips from parents to administer immunizations to children at school on specific days.

In addition it will help to get more children immunized, which is the goal after all.

That's how it was done at my school when I was a child and it worked.

Mary,I spoke with our trustee and found that they are responsible for funding this dept with very little input as to how things are handled. This whole scenario seems odd.If we are paying for it,our trustee's should have more input. Why are the vehicles being driven home with lease mileage and fuel.It is NOT an emergency type sercice unless someone septic tank explodes or something of that nature. How many "emergency" calls are the Health Dept handling after hour's? What warrants these vehicles being used for transportation to and from the workplace?

Mr Grimes(the most WORTHLESS excuse for an elected official I have EVER met)was very rude when I questioned the use of vehicles.I finally had to demand answers of why MY county vehicles were being used to work in another county.I was told that the county comm have very little control of this dept. After forcing the issue regarding Washington County vehicle being used to service ANOTHER county,I found that these were leased(Honda SUV's at the time) from Athens county. That some employee's are allowed to drive them home(BS) and were paying a penalty for mileage(because of poor lease arrangement, they were going WAY over the mileage limit and WE were paying dearly)and Grimes basically told me to get over it.

"The last three years they've had financial problems and we feel it wasn't wisely spent. It wasn't wisely budgeted," he said. "But Mr. Daniell has been working on it. I think he's doing a good job."

Trustees in attendance unanimously voted to appoint Daniell to another five years on the board. His current five-year term had just expired

Doing a good job of WHAT????????

Unanimously re-elected????

How could that be?

Who will be the next in line to bust the townships chops? Will the Childrens Services think they can take a piece of the pie next?

How about Emergency Services, can they nail us next?

I just don't get and I just cannot understand why more people are not ranting and raving about this.

You have got to be kidding me. How in the h3ll can townships afford to pay that money.

The twp roads that I drive on are crap, now without a vote from me or my trustees, they are going to take 10% MORE. WHAT A BUNCH OF HOGWASH.

I don't get it. They killed out township by the State reducing local governemtn; the Commissioners doled out a little extra on Sales tax this year but they are still killing us; and now the health board thinks they can steal another 10%.!!!!

How can they do that. They are not in charge of our Township's money.

How do they have a say.
