The commission should use the money to make the county home self sufficient. This way they will not have to rely on levies to keep the doors open. Since they have the capability to being self sufficient, I for one, will no longer vote for the levy.

Good for the county home. Not good to agree to give an attorney a portion of the royalties. The attorney certainly deserves to be well paid for preparing documents and negotiating, but I question the decision to pay him a percentage of the oil and gas produced for the life of any well.

So David White thinks the money should be spent, funny how it is ok to spend the money when it is a republican, but if it was a democrat, oh, no all they want to do is spend, spend, spend.... Never think about the future and save for a rainy day... Schneider reviewing the contract, does it say anything about a plea in there, cause I thought that was all he knew!!

Truth..READ the article. Mr. White says they are researching the options and he would like to see the money put into a designated fund for capital improvements.Just because the word 'windfall' was used, doesn't mean they are gonna on a spending spree.

@Clueless: AMEN. If they get the money to run the County Home, which they should so they can be self sufficient, discontinue the Levy!

Isn't that nice, Cora's still looking out for the citizens of Washington Co. What a crock! Only thing she's looking out for is the opportunity to get back in that office, where she bullied and bulldozed and power-pedaled to further her own self-interest. We voted you out, Cora, please do us all a favor and take your marbles and GO HOME!

Thought the attorney getting royalties seemed a little odd too, so I emailed the commissioners to ask them to explain why this would be. Promptly got a response from Comm. Feathers explaining that that part of the story is inaccurate, Mr. Huggins is NOT getting any royalties from this deal, is in fact taking a much lower fee from the county for his services than his counterparts doing other deals. Shall we expect a retraction on that part of the story in tomorrow's paper?

The issue's that I had with MS.Marshall were simple. She doesnt live in the real world.I dont need an inspection and permission to build on MY property. The attempt to fund a county dept with fee's being paid for PERMISSION to build simply to get it off the county ledger is wrong in so many ways. The offloading of the Druggie Home (woops, county home)was done the same way.We shouldnt have a levy for a farming operation. The insurance fiasco was also wrong in many ways.An IT dept that could be replaced with local vendor's would have worked fine. But we as a county will pay someone who never gets dirty(it dept) more $$ than a county road employee working 10x as hard. This aint a large metro area, quit pretending that is is or will be.

And the $88,000/home sewer jam that Devola is getting is another reason.Wasnt she the sewer queen at the annex?
