I’m sure they will replace him from with in the system. Someone that can take orders from the bottom a little better. Now we know it is only a part time job, maybe they could get one of the janitors to do it.

I think if he is looking elsewhere he knows things are not well in the districts he supervises. Either way, if he does not get the position in Athens, it is time he be replaced in the Warren district. He is showing he is not happy with the current situation and his performance will suffer. He has been an ineffective leader for sometime now.

The best lesson learned from the Gibb's years, is maybe these rubber stamps get paid way too much for doing way to little, the next one can take less than what Gibbs did for a 20 hour week. Do any of the districts citizens believe Gibbs was earning 72.11 /hour, an that was after becoming part time.

The BOE will be "Grandstanding" now on how things have changed for the better. Look for the levy chant to start back up soon.

Oh, hold up. Before you wave your celebratory flags and throw your parties, I think it is time for a little self-reflection as to the true origin of Warren's issues. You blamed those crazy parents who wanted more for their children (How dare they!). You blamed the teachers (Come on! You all can teach with outdated technology in dilapidated rooms! It was good enough for me 25 years ago gosh darn it!). You blamed citizens who support education because they know it will benefit the community as a whole (Hey, Hey! Getting all uppity now, aren't we?). You blamed former activist students (Those crazy educated kids who care! What nuts!). You blamed the ELECTED board members. And, of course, the bulk of the responsibility you put at the doorstep of Mr. Gibbs.

Now that Mr. Gibbs is potentially leaving people will be quick to say "good riddance." But I would not be so quick to throw your confetti. Why? Because now we are looking at YOU. With Gibbs gone, who will you blame now?

Maybe it is time for a change, but I'm pretty worn out from all the bad talk around the community. Seems there is nothing anyone can do right. The levy was changed 5 or 6 times, never good enough. I wasn't a fan of the levy plans, but now I'm going to have to wait and see how much of this is just a bunch of vengeful town folk stirring the pot. I'm willing to look at the levy again, especially if we get new leadership. To the mom who posted about reflecting and to those who disagreed with her, she's got a point. If Gibbs goes, who are we going to blame for what's happening in Warren?

The blame for the failing school system is still in the hands of the BOE and those that support it. They set their sites on new, big and pretty schools and stepped on anyone that got in their way. Thank god the community was smart enough to do what was right. The schools will never recover from the total lack of leadership no matter what the size of the next levy attempt will be. I will be voting against the renewal levy with hopes of the state stepping in and fixing the broke mess that Gibbs will leave behind.

The blame falls on the school funding issue from the state, it does not work for S.E. Ohio, but nothing has or will be done, what really did Mr. Gibbs do but point the blame at nay voters on the levies, well look at the formula, for every dollar raised by local levies, there is a penalty to the district in the form of lost revenue from the general fund, so when your state rep. tells you, we send X amount of dollars/pupil, he is not telling you the whole story, now if Gibbs is going to blame somebody for not voting for levies, he needs to look at what reps. he has voted for in his life, not blame the ones paying his salary.

"They set their sites on new, big and pretty schools and stepped on anyone that got in their way." Pretty? Er, well, if by "pretty" you mean not falling apart. OK. I'll give you that. If you are referring to "big" because there were proposals calling for combining schools. OK. You got that one too.

You lost me here: "I will be voting against the renewal levy with hopes of the state stepping in and fixing the broke mess that Gibbs will leave behind." Mr. Gibbs did singlehandedly ruin an entire school system. I mean, it has nothing to do with the community members, elected school board, the impact of time and use on buildings, the passing of new federal and state requirements, individuals who SCREWED up the system long before Mr. Gibbs ever stepped foot in the building.I suppose you're right. By laying it all on him, sure does make us feel better. Even better, I can't wait until the state comes in an fixes our schools! They've sure been awesome a

Let me be the first to congratulate MS. Starcher as the new W*** Superintendent. I love it when people talk at the grocery store and these are the people that teach our children. Let the games begin!! I too will be voting against the Emergency renewal levy for reasons like this. Of course she will have to go thru the interviewing part of the process to make it look good.

Good call, DaveBa! You should! I mean, it makes total sense to vote against our levy . . . let's stick it to the kids and teachers whenever we can! Amazing that so many of our children can rise above this sort of pettiness. Seriously, amazing.

Warren's BOE knows the renewal levy is in great danger of not passing so they will put the most popular person they can in the drivers seat to win over voters. If Ms. Starcher has already been picked to replace Mr. Gibbs, it is a very bad move from the BOE. Everone will just see it for what it is and it is not best for the school system.

The day Gibbs leaves will be a day that many will remember for 1 day. That is about all he is worth to many people. I see Warren******** is posting saying " Warren is the best, boo hoo Gibbs is leaving ". I wouldn't even waste money on a part for the fool. If you think Starcher is better than Gibbs, you are a fool as well. She was horrible is L W and is horrible now. Wait till next year, there will be even more kids leaving to be homeschooled.

Well getthetruth, let’s begins with a short lesson on respect. I don't believe a teacher / Assistant Principal / Superintendent has the right to degrade, yell, and or just outright be hateful towards any students. Now that I made my comment, let’s start on you. I'm pretty sure that I have the right to express the thoughts / opinions that come out of my mouth /mind if I wish to express them. If you wish to comment towards anything I say, be sure that any response could be negative or positive. It looks to me that many people are agreeing with much of what we are saying. A Superintendents job isn’t easy, but you must put effort in your job to get anywhere in life. If you expect everyone else to do it for you, then why even have the job. I haven’t seen one thing he should be proud of being a Superintendent with Warren. He has only caused headaches and from what I see, he’s ready to jump ship. You won’t see many people fight that idea either. .

Whatsthediscussion. Thank you for the very insightful response to my post. I'm now sure we can take your response and use it to choose the ideal candidate for Mr. Gibbs' replacement. To summarize: the ideal superintendent must 1) not yell or degrade or be hateful to students, 2)don't expect someone else to do his/her job, 3)do something that he/she can be proud of as superintendent, 4)don't cause headaches, 5) don't jump ship (at least for those who will care if you do). Great list of qualifications. The school board will definitely appreciate the thought you put into these criteria. Warren should be able to really get a good one with your help. Thanks so much.

Wow! You defiantly went to a school of sarcasm, because that is about the only thing your good at from the looks of it. I can promise you that I don’t want anything to do with the BOE, nor would I want anything to do with Warren. I’m hearing horror stories day by day, and when it hits the fan, people will realize a lot of us were right. So sit back and enjoy the ride. I smell a story brewing and with a hole lot of fingers to be pointed. This might be the reason why ole Gibbs wants to leave. Poor fellow with his kind heart, seeing the school system he single handedly buried in the ground. Maybe not single handedly, but sure was the ring leader for disaster. So let’s see how well your sarcasm works when your proven wrong. ( Might be the first time in your life from the looks of it.)

Whatsthediscussion: You are another fine example of someone out of the district practicing their right to express themselves and their thoughts regardless of how much of an idiot their comments demonstrate themselves to be. Keep believing and spreading those conspiracy theories. Always makes for good fiction.
