National Senior Corps Week begins today and the folks at Marietta’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program, better known as RSVP, are using the occasion to promote volunteerism throughout the community....

Wow alot of these volunteers do work for charity and to help others. Wanting them to go home and get a hobby is very short sighted. Without their help many of the things they do would not get done at all.

I think this is a wonderful program. Just because you are retired, it doesn't mean you are useless. Maybe you plan to sit in a rocking chair and watch life pass you by when you retire, not me or any of these fabulous volunteers.

Everytime a senior takes a volunteer based job they are taking away a paying job from someone who could actually use the money. Instead of focussing on the emepty space in their lives they should stay home, get a hobby and instead focuss on the people out there out of work with an emepty place in their stomach.
