It wasn't the council who started this. It was Mr. Hupp who singled out two businesses and ordered citations to be issued. One of them was just so he wouldn't be accused of discriminating against the Tea Room owners.

Exactly what codes are these people in violation of? Is there a document, an application that business owners are to submit? Hupp is stirring the pot again. Pay attention to the other things going on when he sets up diversions like this one.

You said that right asknot. Also why do they have to have a conglomerate of committees and people to approve such minor things as this? Totally ridiculous.

And of course the city wants to cash in on the business, who pay enough taxes already, with $154 permit fees.

Goodness, as if the business owners would block traffic on the sidewalk. They want people to come to them, they won't prevent it. Is there nothing that government can leave alone?

What's he big deal about obtaining a permit? Seems like $154, for 5 year permit is a very cheap price to pay!

Let the store owners alone. Go to any successful small town and you will see sidewalk cafes. Try Granville, Ohio for example. Joe Matthews and Walt Brothers will do the right thing. It is fun to go downtown, read the paper and sit at a restaurant. The new spot where the bakery was is great..don't even have to deal with the old owner and her sweet way with everyone.

Absolutely--do away with the permits for outside seating. Also, it seems to me that it would be a good idea for the city to come up with some kind of summary for any new business as to what the local laws are and what is expected of them.

All a bunch of Bull do away with the permits. Leave the store owners alone . I'm sure they are not going to block off the sidewalks and it does bring in more business which more money for them and more for the city. In the end it will bring in more than a citation .
