June 13, 2013

The route of a seismic mapping project originally slated to pass through Marietta’s Harmar district and along Putnam Street has been changed to follow Ohio 7 through town, according to city officials....

This is total BS by the city. I bet not a single person that allowed this has a home on the route. I would also like to know how people can complain about it being intrusive and damaging, get the city and the company to re-route it and push it off as being a traffic flow issue.

I hope no one sustains any damage and as someone mentioned before.....TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR FOUNDATION AND PLASTER WALLS.

Well, I hardly believe the solution is for a corrupt government administration to take over regulation for industries that they oppose. However, that's a different debate.

I find it humorous that you aren't concerned with the chemicals and toxins in your soil already. Just another example of our twisted sue-happy society. Something for nothing.

Let's face it folks, it is all about the $$$$$$. If you want to know if you have the mineral rights just look at your deed and save the atty. fees.

@RealityInTheMOV It has been already proven that drilling on or near a property lowers the value of a property.I really don't want to grow vegetables or have my kids play on grass that has benzine coming up through it.I'm just glad the EPA will rule this fall and start to regulate the gas/oil instead of the States.

Do you have city water or well water? Duke University's recent study of fracking vs nearby home values show the values rose for homes with public water, while the values dropped for homes with well water. Since you're in city limits, you most likely have public water. You're going to sue the company for possibly RAISING your home's value? Makes perfect sense in a country where everyone wants something for nothing.

The lawsuit is over my property value not about oil/gas rights. I'm sure there will be others that go after the city and drillers if they try and drill within city limits.

Not that simple, Josh, and if you've already talked to a lawyer, you may want to get a second opinion. Most property owners don't own their mineral rights, regardless if they think they do or not. Point is, you more than likely don't own them, therefore, they can get permission from whoever does, and they can drill where they please.

We don't need to know whats under the city because there won't be any drilling within city limits. The oil/gas drillers think were a bunch of dumb hicks that they can walk all over.I have already talked to a lawyer and as soon as the city oks drilling I'm filing a lawsuit.

mrhomer.. I think this is a different company that is doing the mapping. I can't be certain, but its my guess that these companies do not share their information. My guess is that the route was changed due to concerns over some of the older houses in harmer that could "theoretically" be at risk... All of that being said.. I still am not keen on these things passing my house again...
