You cannot hang a flag or a sign above the side walk. You cannot put a nice clock anywhere downtown; now you wanna cram the sidewalks full of stuff like Wal*Mart does in their isles.

As long as there is room for walkers/wheelchairs/strollers....let the businesses put their wares out on the sidewalk. No business owner is going to cram the sidewalk so full people can't pass. That would be a dumb business practice. NO PERMIT NEEDED ! Give the businesses the specifications and leave them alone.

I agree Napper, we've got crosswalks at each corner and a couple in the middle of the block and STILL have Jaywalkers...just close front street down for the shoppers and move on to more important matters...
