Schools preach for students to get a 4 year college degree and yet they wont hire a young teacher. This is a waste of a education and hurts the community. Young teachers bring in new life and would get some schools out of the stone age. The money saved by rehiring a retired teacher don’t equal what a young family will give back to community. What is better a old teacher that is out of touch with today’s kids or a new young teacher that buys a house, raises a family and helps the community grow?

My guess is that Leidkke is being rehired because the district places such an emphasis on sports and he has been a very successful one!

Well said LH1984. We need to get new and innovative young teachers into the system.

Yet another reason young professionals will never go back to the Mid-Ohio Valley. Is it a coincidence that Superintendent Gibbs arrives in Fort Frye and immediately allows "double-dipping"? This has been going on for years in the Warren Local School District.

Thanks Tessie for pointing that out. Guess my english teacher didn't do a real good job. Maybe she shouldn't have been rehired!!

The lead story in today's Times deals with losing young people in our area and a subsequent story talks about rehiring a retired teacher. What is wrong with this picture? We cannot keep a solid work force if we do not provide something besides service-related jobs.

Tessie, LH1984 (Randy) does not have a degree. This is one of the few times I somewhat agree with him.
