If the board feels they deserve more tax money, they should go after the state to change funding to be based on sales tax. Then the burden would be spread fairly instead of placed squarely on the shoulders of the propery owners. Then you would have a say in how much you are taxed. If you don't want to pay more taxes, don't spend so much money.

These school boards need to learn to manage the money they have instead of running in the red all the time and begging for more. When we denied their levy for new schools many years ago, they just stopped maintaining the buildings and let them get so run down that the public felt sorry for the kids and finally passed it. Now they are trying to get money for sports since we won't voluntarily hand it over. About 1/4 of the land in the district is owned by Wayne National Forest and they don't pay taxes. That leaves us a much greater burden. School taxes are based on property taxes. So why does everyone in the district get to vote on levies even if they don't own property? You have welfare people living in HUD houses voting on how my money is spent. How is that fair. You should have to show your tax slip to vote on levies. The Ohio Supreme Court has rule school funding in Ohio as unconstional 4 or 5 times in the last 20 years yet nothing has been done.
