I agree. It is awful to have to live through these changing times, but we have to do what we have to do. After all, where we would be today if so many before us had not made the sacrifices they did, had chosen what was easy and refused to evolve?

Jeepman seems to be spot on with his comments. No one wants to see anyone lose their position but you have to wonder how much has AEP has invested in its infrastructure since deregulation. It is interesting to quote Wikipedia’s article on AEP….”In December 2011, the non-partisan organization Public Campaign criticized American Electric Power for spending $28.85 million on lobbying[34] and not paying any taxes during 2008-2010, instead getting $545 million in tax rebates, despite making a profit of $5.9 billion, laying off 2,600 workers since 2008, and increasing executive pay by 30% to $23.7 million in 2010 for its top five executives.[35]”Those figures indicate that they really don’t care about the people that work for them

Seeing we have the highest cancer rate in Ohio, I'm glad to see things clean up...AEP isn't going bankrupt, they'd rather save the bottom dollar then save jobs. I really wish they would have refueled it with natural gas to keep the jobs. It's a double edged sword. We have to consider our children and their children have aren't suffering from our mistakes.

I feel bad for the workers and I hope they find other work with AEP.
