I love this type of story. I began school on Eight Mile (county rd 9) in a similar school. I wasn't old enough for school but begged to go so daddy asked the teacher (his aunt) and she accepted me conditionally. I had to behave and keep up. It was mostly neighbors and cousins and I loved it. She gave me a life long love of learning.
