A very good reason not to make a new car purchase in Washington County After all if taxing heavily on cigarettes deters smoking heavy taxes on the goods sold here should then deter purchasing here!

Our sales tax in Summit County will now be 6.75%. Buy that same car after Sept. 1st up here, and you'll pay $674.66 in sales tax, a savings of about $50 to what you'd pay in Washington County. I don't think anyone would drive over a hundred miles to save 50 bucks!

Mr. Boso is correct. Ohio's Governor, Senators, and Representatives are just moving the money around so it looks like they're doing something. It's a shell game.

Its called wealth redistribution, certain parts of population pay income tax, most pay sales tax, so if you keep increasing state spending and cut taxes on a small part of the tax base, it is just naturally going to keep more dollars in hands of fewer citizens, who will take their more expensive purchases out of the state, becausethey can afford to....isn't it time to replace politicos like thompson, johnson, ans ksick.....

BigNapper, if you live in Washington County and you buy a car in another town outside the county you will still pay the Washington County tax rate.

The taxes are based on what county you live in.

If Ohio's leaders had a brain they would do away with State Income tax all together and replace it with higher sales taxes. Each county would have higher sales taxes than exit now but it would be based on wealth.Wealthy counties would be higher than poor counties. Business is booming in states that have not state income tax.
