I'm personally getting so sick of reading these same stories, week after week in the paper that I rarely give them a 2nd look. Get on the ball Sheriff, these re-runs are getting very old, very fast!

Maritta needs to have all rentals inspected once a year and make the owners get a permit.Portsmouth has been doing this for a few years now it hasn't stop the drug problem but its slowed it down. The war on drugs can't be won but we need to keep our children safe.We need the DEA to come to town and clean house .When they raid a house they take everything and sell the property and the landlord is out of luck.

Ok got to start it, but whatever..BungalowRose...poison?? Really, are you aware that your friendly government was behind the creation of ***, they tested it on Vietnam Soldiers. When they realized that it intensifies the senses, AS WELL AS opens up areas of the mind that we do not normally utilize, they pulled it, couldn't have those boys out their getting any ideas right?? And marijuana poison, look at all the medicinal benefits. Its not poison, its just not legal in Ohio because it can't be regulated or taxed. You want my opinion and yes feel free to blast away, the best thing that could happen to this lazy society we live in today is for someone to "dose" the people laying around and maybe they would realize just how pathetic their lives are and get up and make a CHANGE for the betterment of SOCIETY!

Steelergirl, you said just what I said to another commentor blaming the landlord for a her*ine dealer's actions.

When are people going to learn that personal responsibility is where it's at! The drug dealers are the guilty party and they need look no farther for someone to lay blame on!

I do believe they should legalize, and tax pot, and save the drug eradication money for the harder drugs that cause more crimes.

Why are the landlords greedy, BungalowRose? I'm sure they check people out, but if you have not been caught before they are not going to know that you are a drug dealer. Also, landlords don't always live near the tenants to see the activity going on. Blame the drug dealers - not everyone else!!!

Do ya suppose they come here because of the ridiculously light sentencing deals they get from the prosecutor? Even for repeat drug offenders? I mean, what other serious crimes can you repeatedly commit here & still only get 90 days, serve about 30 of them, get out on parole then violate that parole not once but twice less than 2 years after the last 'major' drug bust they nailed you on & after the 2nd parole violation, they send you to rehab.....AGAIN?!?!?!?! I don't give a dem how many times they roll over on their druggie friends, after their 5th or 6th drug arrest, there should be NO deals for them. I still say the Times should look up the drug sentences and report on how many times a druggie has been arrested and what their sentences were, especially the repeat offenders and exactly just how much of those sentences they actually served. Yes, confidential informants are important but seriously, there should be a limit to the leniency for these fools.

Nothing will be done but the slap on the hand. Send them to Russia for a year in their prison system and I bet they come back a totally different person. Russia doesn't put up with type of crap. Maybe it's time we don't either!
