st84ward--You talk like he's had mental problems his whole life and chose not to do anything about it. Who is to say they didn't just start within the past couple of years, during a couple of traumatizing events that triggered it? Often people with mental illness are not even aware they need help. Unfortunately today's laws prohibit friends and family members from forcing someone to seek mental treatment when they are no longer minors.

LisaBon-I'm not a horrible person, just a realist. If he had mental problems, yes, he needed help. He's 30 something and didn't get it yet. This is a better situation than some murder-suicide or what-not that's usually committed by someone with mental problems that needed help and never got it.

st84ward--You are a horrible, horrible person for saying that!! IF he killed himself and was not murdered, he would obviously have been mentally ill, and needed help, not someone to make fun of him after he dies. Do you make fun of handicapped kids too?

This guy made a plan to kill himself and he succeeded. It may have very well been the only thing he ever succeeded at, so let's not take away from that with the blame game.

Everyone just assumes he was guilty and beat his girlfriend. I have news for you, HIS GIRLFRIEND LIED. He has NO HISTORY of domestic violence, and the cops just took the crazy girl's word for it. He was probably mouthing off, because he was wrongly jailed. Sounds suspicious there were 5 officers in his cell right before "he killed himself"?????

County recently paid big money for mismanagement at Juv. Center. That was just chump change compared to what may happen here fron what I am hearing.

Please tell us more HEART. If you know this much information, it must have been talked about and leaked outside. Why wait for the report. I'm sure it will be changed to meet the sheriff's wishes.

It's all about control with the domestic violence people. They want to control all aspects of their victim's lives. Maybe he realized that she really was done with him this time and he wasn't going to be able to use her as his punching bag anymore.

I think the suicide may have been the ultimate act of control--he wants the girlfriend to feel guilt & remorse for the rest of her life for "causing" him to kill himself.

I hope the girlfriend can get help and realize it's not her fault. She hopefully can embrace the philosophy that the best thing she can do is live a good life and leave this in the past. She's been though enough. You go, girl!

Everyone sure is quick to point fingers and lay blame without any facts. Inmates are watched by camera 24/7 by very capable officers. The report says he died at MMH. It only takes 4 minutes after lack of oxygen for irreparable brain damage to occur. He could have been found quickly and given CPR and still died. Please wait for the facts before you judge!

Chasing , you say the girlfriend should be ashamed of herself and that the prisoner must have really loved her-Why? because he was in jail for domestic violence-really a nice way to show someone you love them. The girlfriend was the victim here-as he was in jail for domestic violence against her. Why in the world should she be ashamed? The police arrested him not her.

People get out of your homes go to town and watch all of the (HAIR CUS) around Marietta. His cut as a (MOHOUCH CUT).HE LOOKED TO ME AS A NIE LOOKING BOY. To young to die over a thing like this. The girlfriend should be ashamed of her self,he must of really LOVED HER. I saw where MINKS said that was the 1st suicide at the JAIL since he's been SHERIFF ? NOT TRUE just a couple of years ago there was a young man who tried to slit his throat in WCJail. He was involved with drugs and was on SUICIDE WATCH thank GOD he did not die. But it should not of happened any way.He was given (A RAZOR) to shave his face that was a big NO/NO not on watch. He has become a reformed young man today I am so PROUD of HIM. If there is a WILL there is A WAY. P.T.GOD!

We don't have the right to judge because we just don't know.

We as "tax payers" pay for the goings on at the WCJ, we have a right to know...as far as judging, I'll decide who and what I want to judge...

According to the jail roster on sheriffs web site, Barroews was being housed in I-1, which is an isolation cell. There had to be a reason for him being housed there instead of general population.Tell us sheriff Minks.

I would guess they are monitored but the question would be are they watched 24/7??...if the man didnt say anything that would make those watching suspicious how would you know to keep a 24/7 watch??...

Aren't the cameras monitored...or just recorded for future reference...probably never get any straight answers out of this if history is any example.
