I agree with Valvey: $2.5 million on an asset that could be gone with the next flood when we are swimming in deficits. Doing it for the tourist doesn't cut it with me.It is still tax dollars.

Because Valvey..... we have to have culture, education and tourism. All three cost and make money. They are what you called development, a department which all large organizations have and see crucial for their futures.. Otherwise, places turn into the MOV.... little innovation, development and attraction.

The Jones family are truly wonderful people and Amherst Madison is so very supportive of this area and other river communities. Valueguy...when we start letting go of things like this that mean so much to the history of our community we would lose so much more.

If Marietta doesn't maintain some visual connections to the city's historical links to commerce and boat traffic on the Ohio River, what else would bring tourists and their dollars to the city? Too bad that the Snyder can't be brought back as a working boat, powered up for special events but then there are few remaining in the area who know how to work, maintain and repair boilers, the technology of the 19Th Century.

I like the Snyder as well as anyone but you have to question the use of all those tax dollars on this type of project when we have such a large deficit.
