It amazes me that the vandals got as far as they did without anyone (passing motorist, police officer, etc.)noticing.

The mark on the road was all over from 1 side to another so it's a wonder they didn't meet someone and hit them.

Just ask the kids talk, talk, talk......it's been all over twitter/Instagram! Let's just see who drives this rumored big white dually first and then we will see if they file charges.

Oh THANK GOD the rock is back!

When I heard of this yesterday i had to wonder what was up in the universe.

The Reds, Indians AND Pirates are in the MLB Playoffs

The Cleveland Browns beat Cincinnati and are tied for 1st in the AFC North

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 0-4 for the 1st time since 1968.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have won 17 straight games and are only up to 4th in the standings.

Then I hear about the rock and I had to wonder if the end day was here!

Hilarious prank. Everyone is over reacting. I came down 821 and Muskingum drive this morning and didn't notice any road damage. Of course I wasn't looking for it either because I just now read about it, but if there were any real damage, I would have noticed. I'll be sure to look on my way home.

I'm sorry but I don't think the distruction of property weather it be a rock or not is funny. That rock has been there for over 40 years.

Fedup 2011, It's "destruction" not "distruction" and "whether" not "weather". Where did you go to school? Marietta? And you are wrong. Harmless pranks between schools are a tradition and in this case pretty humorous.

Remember people, it's a rock! This was probably just some kids blowing off steam. They could have busted windows, painted grafiti on the school, or spun donuts on the football field. All they did was take a rock for a ride. A rock that gets grafiti painted on it every year. I'm not saying that they shouldn't answer for their actions. Just don't make criminals of them and give them a record that will stick with them all their lives. Maybe a little community service but no jail time, ridiculous fines or a criminal record.

I agree taxed2, it could be a lot of destructive stuff, and instead it's a rock. A rock. Not an animal, or someone's car. A rock. But you will have conservative, panties-in-a-bunch people everywhere, so what are you going to do?

Ok Taxed2 death I didn't realize this was a spelling class. I can spell several words correct that I would probably be removed from this site if I said. But thank you oh so much for the correction I really do appreciate it.

CeeJay,

I don't think it is necessarily conservatives that want to prosecute the people that pulled this prank. I'm about as conservative as you can get when it comes to political and moral views. The people on here are just taking it personal because they went either went to school there or are upset that they never had the imagination or nuts to pull something like this off. As far as pranks go, I'd say this one was pretty conservative. It was probably kids that wanted to make an awesome high school memory and didn't want to hurt anybody or anything so they decided to drag a rock up the road. No harm, no foul.

I hear it was a 21st birthday gift for a young man on DAV. I guess The Rock was all he wanted for his 21st birthday. So his buddies pulled through (no pun intended) and Granted his wish. Happy Birthday 21st.....parents must really be proud of these young men today. ESP since their the Talk of the Town! And yes. I feel this is criminal.

That is absolutely hilarious! I went to a school that had a spirit rock, and people were all the time doing thing to it, burning it, burying it, attempts to move it. Should these “kids” if caught have some type of punishment, yeah probably, but nothing serious that would be “criminal” or on their records.

They obviously did it in the wee hours to avoid hurting anyone. And oh by the way, I am about as conservative as it gets. I was guessing it was the more liberal who were crying about this. Great memory “Kids”!

And stonecold...Classic! :golf clap:

proud resident-"they",ah,"obviously did it in the wee hours to avoid hurting anyone", you say?'They did it in the wee hours to avoid detection. And they did put people and property at risk, including themselves and their property. It was public property, the rock and the roadways.

After watching the 11:00 news and seeing how much damage was actually done to Our MHS Rock, every student and Alumni should be a little teary eyed tonight. I can't believe how much of our cherished Rock is now forever gone. Shame on you!
