Thank goodness that someone is finally going to do something with the 3 cerment flower boxes on Rte 7 on the westside. That has been a petpeeve of mine for years and thought about trying to work with the Hammar Students to at least weed the boxes Spring and Fall so they could take so proud in their community. Maybe the Master Gardeners could get the beds in shape then have local student volunteers maintain them. Just a suggestion, but Kudoes to these people who want to step up and make a difference.

This is a great idea! Thanks to all the volunteers who are making this happen. and thanks to the local businesses that are giving a discount. It might be wise to do some layering so that constant color can be maintained during the growing season. I would like to see more quality of the flowering areas instead of quantity at this point.

As for the "Valley Gem" lot: Does the lease for the Valley Gem also include maintenance of the Flower Beds, and mowing of the area above the docks? If so, then why are city crews mowing? And why is the owner of the "Gem" not responsible for the flower beds? Who's responsible for maintaining the parking area there?
