It cost the Nat Park Service MORE to shut down the parks than to keep it open. They reported they were under orders to make it as painful as possible on the American people. Obama says he cannot stretch any laws now after 5 years of ignoring the ones he/they don't agree with and allowing all kinds of other scandals..HHeee HHheee.... That is funny !!!

If anyone on here feels they were truely represented by their elected officials on the Affordable Care Act, when the senate majority leader said, lets not worry about whats in it, we will read it after its passed. I don't care if your a R or D, that is NOT the way to treat people in our great county. Period!! Start over, and do something right for a change. Americans deserve better............

LTS. Democrats do not understand budgets and the cannot fathom your last 3 posts in this thread. I suppose their BLIND LOVE for Obummer is clouding their vision. He was on TV blaming the repubs again today. His lips were moving, a sure sign he was lying. How do you negotiate with a known liar and cheater??

OldHickory. For the hundredth time. Bush and Cheney alone did not mandate invading Iraq. Congress did. Kerry and Hillary even voted YES.

fred with all of your bluster, why in the world are you not focusing on the terrible financial situation that our elected representatives have put us in? a quick glance at the financials revealed by the national debt clock should be a sobering reminder that we have to change course and change course soon. for each citizen including children and the newly born, our government saddles them with a bill of $54,000 or roughly $140,000 per taxpayer. 1/3 of the U.S. population pays taxes. 144 million americans are employed with 90.4 million not in the labor force. 108.4 million american are retired, on disablity or receive food stamps. the u.s currently has 104 trillion in national assets and 126 in unfunded liabilities which works out to roughly $331 thousand of asstes per citizen and 1.1 million in liability per taxpayer. the cost of defense/wars is at $608 billion verses the cost of medicare/medicaid,social security, income security, net interest on debt, and federal pensions at $2.5 trilli

fred...never???? hardly. "When Jackson took office, the national debt was about $58 million. Six years later, it was all gone. Paid off. And the government was actually running a surplus, taking in more money than it was spending." Nature to a vacuum is the same as politicians to zero debt.

The shut done does affect real people. But this is not the first one and it will not be the last. Both parties have and will use it as a weapon.

I would direct this to all those who demand a balanced budget and a reduction in spending. Did you raise your voices to the battle cry when President Bush and Vice President Chaney invaded Iraq? Please reflect upon the question asked. If you answered yes then I have not completely lost respect for you.

Harley, people like me amaze you?????

I have re-read all of my posts and have yet to find where I called Cruz a terrorist. But be absolutely sure that I strongly disagree with the right wing tactics being employed with regard to the shutdown. Further, First the agenda was repeal Obamacare. Next came a one year moratorium. Then came reducing the budget. Now, if I understand correctly, none of that matters as long as "O'bummer" presents a balanced budget as a trade off, one that guts all humanitarian and education programs since they are deemed wasteful spending.

oneill, You really need to learn how to follow along. The idea is to push the individual mandate back. With that said, we need to get a handle on the spending. BTW you never did tell me if the quote was terroristic or not and who it was from.
