Demand up locally for GED test

Cost to triple Jan. 1, degree of difficulty rising, too

October 14, 2013

More people are taking the GED test locally, apparently in an effort to earn their high school diploma equivalency before the test becomes more difficult and more expensive....

@chasing: "They are their to TEACH our KIDS"

There...not their. It sounds as if you need to go back to school. If you know nothing about what a teacher does in his or her job, how can you judge them? If you think teachers make "GOOD MONEY& BENEFITS" for the amount of education needed to be a teacher, you are grossly incorrect. I would agree with you that there are some teachers who need to go but the vast majority of them are good, caring people. Education is the backbone of our country. Teachers’ hands are being tied more and more each day by government rules and regulations. It's not always the teacher’s fault that a child doesn't learn. Have you been to schools lately to see some of the class sizes now? It is nearly impossible for a teacher to spend one on one time with a struggling student. Some of the blame should be placed on the parents too. IMO

Listen if the kid's are reading & writing at a 5th grade level that tells me we have teacher's that should have to GO.And i mean GOOOOO. They are their to TEACH our KIDS & we are paying them GOOD MONEY & BENEFITS. That's why we are going to have to VOTE to remove (TENURE) they are NOT doing what we have been paying them to do so FIRE THEM just like the rest of us get for not doing OUR JOBS.

They should also make it more difficult to graduate from high school. I am a college instructor at a technical college and I see many college graduates who read and write at, what I consider to be, a 5th grade level.

I think being DUE to conditions of community control is a good idea.

Good incentives for them to stay in school.
