Hope he is alright, but why was he shooting a gun inside a vehicle?

i disagree with both of you. It was muzzle-loader season those two day's. So therefore he was not committing any crime nor was he hunting illegally! As for where it took place this is what it said (The exact location of the explosion has not been determined, but Mincks said it appeared the rifle blew up while Oliver was inside a pickup truck.) that doesn't necessarily mean he was in the truck. Prayer's Go out to the family.

Say didn't the CVA inline muzzleloaders have issues where they were basically blowing the bolts backwards in the shooters face at one time?

The problem being something wrong with the metallurgy of the gun.

Then again maybe in the thrill of the hunt he load too many pellets into the gun.

That would cause it to blow up right there when fired.

Since there is very little info in this report, I am assuming that he was unloading his gun for the evening after hunting all day during the early muzzleloader hunt because the ODNR thinks we have way too many deer in OHio. It is not a good practice to leave your muzzleloader loaded after hunting all day.

Since there is very little info in this report,

there is another report in todays paper under "local roundup"...says he had injuries to his eye and hand, sounds like he was taking aim...

CVA has a new ignition system that uses a 9 volt battery and no primer. It has a safety and an on/off switch. There is speculation that this may have been an accidental discharge while the gun was in the seat beside him, hence the injuries to the side of his face.

after his muzzleloader rifle exploded in his face, causing injuries to his right eye and hand.

Couldn't have been on the seat beside him, I say he was taking aim...something definitely wrong with the gun...
