I agree exofDevola. I didn't mean she should have a lighter sentence. I meant that too many people get off with no jail time. It is very disturbing with the number of drug related crimes that are occurring. There is no easy answer. Maybe the cops could start arresting the dealers....especially the ones I have personal provided their names...??????

Calm down fresh, you'll find another source. But based on your posts maybe you should seriously think about cutting back.

Fresh I have a job as do most of the site/ there are many who work nights and some still do shift work /I notice you also have several posts. ea I do think you make a good point it would be nice to have more even sentenced , but I. This case the mom sold drugs and her child was nearby so the sentence was more than most. There is not a day that goes by that we don't have a drug case in court , most get very little time and come back as repeat offenders. I really don't blame any of the posters here / there is a revolving door on the jail/it is very hard to be compassionate when you see slap on the wrist/ get out if jail/repeat drug crimes and return to the courts with medical or personal problems that make a stay in jail toouch for them

I agree that a punishment is needed but EVERYONE should be treated the same......Not the case in Marietta. For those of you who are casting stones, I suppose you are quite righteous. Remember, everyone makes mistakes. Some are just bigger than others. I hope she gets help after her jail stay.

Very strange I expect the dad would not lose his job and wished judge would have called on the phone to check . Kinda expected the mom would say immediately going to jail would not be convenient as to get schedule.scriptures don't apply here everyone is right but fresh with their comments. I would pray for anyone in a bad situation but no one sold the pills but the mom.

Fresh2Envy, enough already with the scripture quoting! Totally irrelevant!

"She was selling the drugs with the kid present," interjected Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Ed Lane. Classy Ed, very classy, lol

I completely agree with NasCar! This child is 7 and should be attending school, therefore would most likely need before/after school care, depending on what shift the father is working. Even if $75 doesn’t completely cover the cost per week, it would definitely cover the majority of it, seeing how there would be one less mouth in the household to feed and to tote to and from drug counseling! Furthermore, stop conforming to the needs of convicted criminals! If the punishment is harsh enough the first time, maybe, just maybe they would think twice the next time they are confronted with a decision to break the law or not!

$75 would not cover a sitter for an entire week. And to Asknot's point I don't think these people are into things that are not easy.

My querstions: Could she have a PT job during the week in the evenings while he is home with the kid, therefore contributing to the $75 charge.

Could she attend classes at the coomunity college while out, and be able to work on her studies (reading, etc) while in?

And what was the officer's costume?

What's wrong with a sitter while dad is at work??...the $75 it will cost to do weekends could go toward the sitter...

Stop negotiating with convicted criminals! If they can't do the time--then they shouldn't commit the crime!
