Kasick cronies are all dork o rammas.

Needs to be impeached, thrown out of office and then punished for all he has done to destroy local governments in Ohio.

Then after that go after him for destroying industry.

AND half of Ormets employees are from WV. A state which by the way will walk thru the parking lots of THEIR plants and fire anyone driving a car with an OHIO license plate... I saw that !!!They will rarely even hire anyone from ohio either.

Screamneagle. I could give a care less about Kasich.. This is a matter of common sense. If Ormet wants to get cheaper power and thinks AEP is overcharging all they have to do is wait till 2014, Jan 1 deregulation happens. All they will have to do is change suppliers. You no doubt have been getting all those offers in the mail and on the phone. I don't think they are gonna get it any cheaper than AEP was forced to sell it to them !!!How do YOU like subsidizing Ormets power bill??? It IS costing YOU about $2.50 a month... Assuming you are an Ohioan.

The Ohio Public Utilities Commission has ruled American Electric Power must give its customers in Ohio a $6.9 million refund, according to a report from the Columbus Dispatch. The refund is based on AEP making excessive profit in 2010

yeah......why should anybody care that 1000 people that work in a very poor county who's almost sole revenue is ormet are about to lose their jobs......you Kasich lovers make me sick......should have known though.you even treat people from the eastern part of the county like they are below you.your great governor also had a new school funding formula.....frontier school district is going to lose $600,000 this year and will be running in the red because of your great governor.but yep, guess that doesn't matter to you either...figures.

I am all for helping a business out that may have run onto a bump in the road and has some potential in making a profit down the road but people need to know an ENDLESS MONEY PIT when they see one !!! They were allowed to soak AEP for millions with the help of the PUCO now NUmchuk Tamchuk wants to soak Ohio taxpayers more . And where is WV in all this ??? What a joke... Send them packing... Let them move to China... They aint gonna make it there paying slave wages either !!! Aluminum prices are down !!!

Everybodies to blame but Numnuts Tamchuk. He needs a busted nose for slandering people and not taking responsibility for his own failure. The advent of CARBON FIBER technology has rendered aluminum less desirable and as a result the price of aluminum is in the dumpster. At least in the building of aircraft.

Why the spin against Kasich in the headline? The union spokesman said Kasich had been an advocate for the business--is it just to influence those who would scan the headline yet not bother to read the story? A little bias perhaps?

BeRight I don't disagree with you but if a WV company like Dupont asks for aid should Ohio taxpayers help with that since they employ a lot of Ohioans? Where does this policy begin and end?

There are any number of companies falling on hard times at one time or another. I do not remember any help being asked for or offered unless the company was highly unionized. One job should be just as important as another.

But this case is different. The management was inept. The company changed hands and with each new owner looking at short term goals and no long range planning you have a recipe for failure.

The best chance of success would be an employee buyout supported by a partnership between the Union, State of Ohio and West Virginia. West Virgina is important in the conversation since nearly half of Ormet's employees live in West Virginia, yet the Mountain State did not offer any financial support for the company.

This way all players have a stake.

Liberals, Democrats, the unions, the EPA, and the uninformed are the ones responsible for the decline of manufacturing in the USA. The sad part about it is most of them will not "wake up and smell the coffee" until we are helpless and dependant on China or Russia just to get a bite to eat! They don't seem to care to investigate how people are really living in these communist countries, they're too busy being jealous of the hard working successful people here in the USA.

Maybe Kasich can take some of his new Medicaid Obamacare expansion booty that he is stealing form the taxpayers to bring to Ohio to pay off Ormet to put the workers back on the payroll. Heck, with billions of new dollars to spend, who's going to notice a few millions diverted to industry, just like Obama did with the "stimulus" funds!
