tigersfan1 - Duckworth can hold his own, he will be OK!!!!

School board should fix the district and teachers who are unwilling to help their students and leave the athletic program to the AD and Principal.

Mark is a great man, great coach, and is passionate about the sport of basketball. When parents aren't happy about their child's playing time, they tend to blow things out of proportion. So he was upset about a close loss, kept his cool in public until he was in a stair way and shoved a ball rack down the steps. At least he didn't continually run onto the football field throwing his hands up, jumping up and down, yelling at referees about a "bad call". This happens every game, and when a coach loses his composure, so does the team.

Good Luck Mark, MHS is lucky to have you!!

I have watched Hannuksela coach in the past and he is exactly what you need in a great coach! Good luck coach Hannuksela for a successful season.

Having Hannuksela back at the helm of the Varsity Girls Basketball team is a plus for the school!! Maybe the parents who complained were only mad because their daughters werent dedicated to the sport therefore they were not as good as other players and didnt get as much playing time. I see this move as positive because Cozzens could only coach one girl at a time and he let one particular parent run the program and bully him and the other player's parents. I feel sorry for the boy's program because now that same parent will be concentrating on that program as well. Good luck with that!

Parents who live their own spirits through their kids and attempt to interfer with coaches are a real disservice to all Marietta programs.

One in particular has led a charge to ruin many good coaches. The Board has had no guts.

One should have been banned from schools. No guts.

Coach us a class act. If the players in every sport had guts like him, they'd all be better off.

A coach who expect to win, demand disciine and care for their player is a winner

The Marietta BOE is privy to much information that is not accessible to others but yet they needed a coach and he was there. Having access to information and ignoring it does two things. It increases ones liability if and when a law suit would come. Secondly that same beforehand information increases the chances of a successful lawsuit not to mention making the potential settlement far larger. My opinion is they are holding their breath. Good Luck!!!

Coach Hannuksela is the guy I would want to have as the coach of my basketball team. His passion and discipline is exactly what high school kids need these days. Enjoyed observing him coach during and after my time at Marietta High School. I am glad my alma mater brought him back. Once a Tiger always a Tiger!

I would like to ask a couple questions If Mr. Hannuksela threw things such as a Basketball rack down the steps breaking it, would that be in the same category as a “chair or something” ? Mr Ron Johnston, Did you ask Mr. Hannuksela if he had ever been asked or directed to take Anger Management classes? Mr Ron Johnston as sports editor of a newspaper and covering sports as you do, How many coaches do you know of with his record and just being voted Coach of the year have been let go because of , and I quote “some parents complaints “?
