White wants to accuse the board members of wrongdoings and not going by the rules, then he needs to think before he opens his mouth. When the head cook Carol retired at Salem the assistant cook became the head cook and was for 1 year until a cook from Lowell wanted the head cook position. When it came down to the voting White should of took his self out of the voting knowing that the cook from Lowell was the mother of his daughter-in-law. The cook from Lowell ended up getting the head cook position at Salem and while on duty she watches/babysits. White was very wrong and unprofessional and it is best that he is off the FFBOE.

Sounder, we can't blame the state for wasteful and redundant local governments. Ohio is an extreme 'home rule' state. It's why Washington Co has 5 school districts & 22 townships. Do we really need 25 school board members and 66 trustees?!!! Ohio's gov't structure worked great in the 1800s. In 2013 not so much. The only answer is to change the Ohio Constitution, which is seriously outdated. Guess who will fight that!

37 years and counting? Too long, too entrenched, too many memos, too many unanouunced inspections or surprise tours. In the 21St Century why is the State of Ohio contributing scarce tax dollars to prop up two school district whose high school buildings are less than five miles apart? That once new and for a small community kind of grand Fort Frye School building has probably entered the last decade of it's practical use. Only God knows what kind of shape that 100 plus year old building which houses Wolf Creek H.S. might be in? The State Board of Education has any interest or is it one of those cases of, "let them be, we don't go there"?

"White said he gets along with most of his fellow board members, although he has issues with how some, who he would not name, operate with regard to the rules." Accusing board members (and others) of wrongdoing while he pulled some of most underhanded stunts. What an unprofessional hypocrite!

Well said, JPC. He's needed to move on for a decade or more. He would just saunter into one of the school buildings (without checking in with the office) constantly. That may have been okay 30 years ago, but not anymore, especially when he was on the board that set the rules for visitors. Let the administrators do their job.

It's difficult to replace knowledge and experience but in this case I think it's in the best interest of the Fort Frye Local School District that Mr. White will no longer be on the BOE. While I admire his passion and his willingness to serve the district, he just never seemed to understand what his role was. Instead of just making policies, he tried to be the administrator of the policies. Instead of just approving (rank & file) personnel recommendations, he tried to manage personnel. Instead of allowing the administrators (that the BOE hired) to manage the day-to-day operations if the district, he inserted himself into situations and showed up (unannounced) at district buildings where / when he didn't belong. Mr. White's actions as a member of the BOE caused a lot of good administrators and teachers to stay away from and/or leave the district. In my opinion, he did more harm than good for the district. Unfortunately it sounds like he's now going to be a "wanna be" board

Is this really important enough to take up such a large share of the front page? Hardly!
