I for one intend to keep this new employee hopping...after years of the city ignoring or trying to ignore my neighborhood problem he is going to be bombarded....maybe they will finally pay attention to the laws they already had.

I love this - this is one of those unsolvables that comes with freedom. When the freedom to do as you wish imposes on others to do as they wish. More gov't, less gov't, there is no right or wrong. This is why most of these 'debates' are completely irrelevant - it all comes down to your values, in this situation, at this time in your life. McCabe has an excellent point -our taxes used to take away our freedoms. Beaten1 is spot on - why should your property be devalued by some last ****? I realize this is rhetoric butdamn, this is the heart of all our recent 'issues' people are getting so hot over. Idiots that they are.

Tessie if your landlord is forced to make repairs he will raise your rent forcing you to move so bite your nose to spite your face. Too many want something for nothing if it looks bad before you move in it will not get better. if you want it better talk to your landlord if you can't get a reasonable agreement then move. We NEED LESS GOVERNMENT!

McCabe, this is not waste. We have slumlords in this town that only have 1 objective. That would be,to say they own alot of property. You can bet these people wouldn't spend 1 night in there own rentals.

Right as a property owner to make these decisions, absolutely right! But what about when these decisions affect others, your neighbors? Thats not right!

I agree Beaten! And that includes rental property owners who allow buildings to rot from mold and disintegrate around their tenants. My landlord told me that's the idea behind the depreciation he claims on income taxes. He said if he fixes anything he'll have to raise my rent and that if I don't like it, I can move. The only right tenants seem to have in Marietta is the right to move. Not so easy for many of us to do. At least with a code enforcement person on board, these people will have to abide by the law.

What about property owners who make the decision to park broken down vehicles in their yard or piles of useless lumber or busted unused hot tubs in the middle of the yard or old florescent light bulbs laying on the ground, or buckets of muck sitting around or old big truck tires stacked up all over... just trash collecting that makes the neighborhood look like crap and effects others property values!!!!??? Where's their rights??? As long as the city has deadbeat, irresponsible property owners that can't do what is right, then a Property Maint Code Officer might/should be the way to go. DANG!

International Property Maintenance Code officer . We really need someone to tell us your grass is a 1/2 inch to high your car doesn't look good where you park your boat is to big to leave in your driveway. More waste another $30.000 out of our tax dollars for this ? It's my right as a property owner to make these decisions. What in the hill were people thinking voting for a council that takes away the rights of property owners and business more regulation hampers growth. Take and take never giving back just what we don't need .
