I am thinking that if the mayor thinks he has gang activity going on in his town, he needs voted out of office. He clearly has no clue what is going on in his town. I'm guessing since in his small mind bikes= gangs, he better go after the American Legion too. I seem to recall hundreds of bikes in front of that establishment for the chilli cook off.

I am glad to see the council resolved the issue. This is what happens when voters elect offficials who are not from the communities they represent. The voters in Beverly need to make wiser decisions in the future. I have never heard of having a married couple as mayor and a council member.

Would one of you "gentlemen" attend the next council meeting and ask the new members to change their outdated town motto? It's very misleading and we want to be sure and keep any future outsiders as far away as possible.

sceptic, who cares if outsiders come in. The problem is that the guy took no time to educate himself about his own town. Now he looks like a complete and total moron.

A little town with a big welcome...the motto is fine and true. The community helps one another and welcomes all. All I am saying is in order to be an effective leader you must know and understand who you are leading. I bet the mayor has no idea how much money has been raised for charity through the Valley Inn, by having poker runs and other events.

Of course he doesn't know how much money has been raised for charity. If he did, he'd be looking for a way to tax it!

This mayor is way out of his zone. He thinks the valley is putting his officers in danger. Well the officers do not do anything but ride around in there cars and talk on their phones anyhow. If something needs done you have to complain to get it done. So what good is the officers anyhow. So how is the valley putting them in danger haha

gardener04, I take issue with the comments about the cops too. I am guessing that any reasonable cop realizes a certain amount of danger comes with the job, that is why they carry guns. This mayor just looks like a moron with his statements.

scrappile You do not know that a lot of those bikers are the same ones at both places. Bikers have big hearts when it comes to raising money for charity.

Sounds like most are misinformed. It was council member Arnold that did not want the Valley Inn crowd around his legion and chatterbox. The mayor was just concerned about the officer’s safety and if Mr. Young would call before people got killed in the parking lots. One of the council members (Arnold) was one of the members that wanted the zoning that would tax the elderly and their property. The mayor was opposed to it. As for the gang activity all those 1%ers that keep going to his establishment and passing out candy during the poker runs was some concern for him and the officers. I guess that most do not care if they have that in the community until one of their kid’s overdoses on some candy and then it will be the mayors and police officers fault.

Bulldog75...passing out candy? Are you serious? Get real man, I know what you are implying, but you are the one misinformed. I am sure that if Mr Young had a crystal ball and knew when someone would be killed anywhere he would alert the authorities.
