I truly believe that everything in life comes down to relationships. Everything. To be successful in any walk of life, from basketball to business, you have to know how to build and maintain solid relationships. As a coach, whether at a small high school or a major university, you should get to know your players, know what is going on in their life, find out what makes them tick, and do your best to stay up with the times. Right now the coach needs to be a friend and not at coach at this point.

I hope the college reaches out to provide him the support he needs. Punishment isn't always the answer, but I'm sure there's natural consequences concerning playing time - bigger issue - to gain the tools needed to not make the same poor decision again.

Second problem in one season. He's gone!!! One time shame on you, second time shame on me. Do your job and release him from the team.

This is a very good young man. Sure he needs to think things through, but let's not make an extra big deal out of it. He will be fine.
