If it was the naysayers purse which was stolen, or their son that was drug through the parking lot would they be so critical of these officers? Of course not. We are talking about thieves and would be murderers. A BIG thank you to these fine officers for containing a bad situation. They deserve commendations not criticism.

Did the dead man have a criminal record. Had there been other purse-snatchings at that mall. Are there security cameras (to review footage from)outside that exit/entrance to the mall?

I won't ask another question. I WILL make a statement. (IMO) for far to long, the security at that mall has been pathetic. They tool around in a little car WITH A CONTINUOSLY FLASHING ORANGE LIGHT on top of it, announcing to all, committing crimes on their lot, "Hey, We're way down here, Boys. Go ahead and continue with your criminal activities".

I wonder how many innocent bystanders would have been killed by that car if the police hadn't stopped it when they did. If they're willing to drag one cop and try to run over another I can't imagine them braking for kids or anyone else in their path.

Well new world, I'm wondering what your plan would have been if you were the officer and the getaway car sped up toward you while dragging your fellow officer ? Tell us, please. It is very easy to second guess after the incident , unless you were present, how do you know . It sounds to me the officer was justified. I'm sure there will be an investigation ,then you will have all the facts .

RiverRat, I seen your "highly trained marksmen" miss a injured deer at two different accidents. Both were under 10 feet a way. On a side note, they did shot another parked car. Just lucky no one was in it.

I agree with Brutus45750, they are highly trained marksmen!!!!!

Rarely are innocent bystanders shot and killed by law enforcement. Not to say you can't google and find some instances, but they are a very large minority.

I'd like to ask them if it was worth it to lose their friend.

I can see postponing the training for the rest of the day, but they should be back there today discussing the situation while fresh on their minds...if not the officers involved at least the rest of the officers...lots to be discussed and learned from this situation...

What a day to snatch a purse, with 26 law enforcement officers training on site! Didn't they know you can't get buy with anything nowadays? I'll bet this will deter would-be thieves for a long, long time to come. (Or at least I hope so!)

I am just glad that no innocent by standers were shot. It could have been a blood bath.
