Greek, this isn't just about people, it's about every species of flora and fauna on the Earth. Discussing acid deposition seems to have moved to the back burner, but it continues to create irreparable damage to the eastern forests of the U.S. and to other continents.

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are the primary causes of acid deposition (wet and dry depositions aka acid particulates and acid rain). In the US, About 2/3 of all SO2 and 1/4 of all NOx comes from electric power generation that relies on burning fossil fuels like coal.

We are destroying our world and ourselves and it's time to stop.

I always look and laugh it up when people talk down Solar energy, By the way Greek you should educate yourself about the Field first before running your mouth. Second of all, If you wanted to power the US in Solar energy, It has been estimated it would take 92 square miles to do so. Also most Solar power Stations in large scale Usually isn't built on a Kilowatts scale. But in MegaWatts, Yes Millions of watts. Gigawatts has been achieved in some places. By they way it not much more of an eyesore than your trash can overflowing in your driveway. Second of all Kudo's to Doug Huffman, By Helping bring more cleaner and free energies to the US.

To many people in Marietta are selling their souls and the lives of their family's and everyone else for a buck.I know most of you think it's okay to make people sick and kill them as long as there is money to be made on it.When all the drillers are gone back home to OK & TX to their homes I'm sure they will sit back and laugh their bum's off at all the Hicks in Washington country.

RANDOM21 You are to funny trying to compare the production of solar panels to drilling for oil/gas.You need to take more or less of your medication.

The greek has led everyone astray here...The articles’ focus is not whether solar power plants are ecstatically pleasing, nor is it to debate the merits (or lack thereof), of coal generated power, the oil and gas industry or even nuclear power but rather the article’s intent is to demonstrate the ability of a local business to provide necessary support to the project. If we focus on that exclusively, we as Washington County residents can certainly be proud that some of our own are involved. Kudos to Doug Huffman, I am proud to say I knew you when you were little.

Josh: do a little research on toxic waste generated from making solar panels and then come back and say "Oops, Josh was wrong and is sorry for Josh's misstatement earlier."

And if it was a coal or nuclear power plant, it would be beautiful? LOL!

No one ever got sick from working with solar panels unlike oil/gas drillers who have a 60% higher risk of cancer than anyone else.

We can agree on this, Greek. Move it into Phoenix and put the cells over parking lots. No natural desert displaced; people can go out and get into a cooler car. Power companies don't like smaller projects, though because they have less control.
