Tessie... I think the situation was handled perfectly. What is a crisis worker going to do when a man is shooting off a gun in his house, shooting his neighbor's home, shooting at officers??? give him a hug? Maybe follow the previous articles and he people tried to talk to him and he responded by shooting at them. If you think about it tear gas was a way of solving the situation so no one got hurt. Law enforcement didn't fire one bullet, even though justified to.

Great job law enforcement for saving this man from himself so that he could get help

I truly believe a mental health crisis intervention team needs to be assembled in this area. Had the properly trained professionals been able to interact with this man, there would have been a different outcome. Situations such as this do not call for an armored vehicle, or for the number of officers who surrounded the house. This situation did not warrant destroying the home of this man and his family with tear gas residue, or breaking numerous windows which caused the pipes to freeze and burst.

The lack of understanding of mental illness by those who led this "brigade" is astounding in this day and age. Shame on those who made such poor decisions. It's expected that a despondent, delusional man would make poor choices. I expect those who respond to the crisis to do so without unnecessarily escalating the situation. And that's what happened here.
