Amazing; Marietta is a small town, the only city in the county which was rural fifty years ago and remains so today. The Culinary scene today in the city; a far cry from the days when The Gun Room or the Betsy Mills Club were about the only places to find better than average food. The depth of well trained chefs, their skilled support staff, the increased knowledge of good food and wines...Wow, Marietta isn't the same place, but the Gun Room--so many, many fond memories of that dining room, not so many of the former owner S. Durwood Hoage--who was a living example of the not so great, good old days. This news item--an upbeat piece of news from an area which could use more of it.

While you list was not all inclusive, I have to 2nd Austyn's. Yet to have a bad meal there. One that was missed was Spagna's on the west side. Amazing Italian food. Then if you want a good cheap meal, can't beat Cone n Shake.

Austyn's and the Lafayette have maintained a healthy distance from the "Front Street Mafia club". I chose not to support those businesses who bully new businesses that try to open on Front Street, especially the 200 block of Front Street.

I hope our business policies in the city encourage continued growth in the restaurant environment, both locally owned owned and not.

You made me aware of restaurants that I did not even know where here.

Marietta is blessed with wonderful locally owned restaurants. Support them all.
