Loving my home as I do, I'm thrilled beyond words for this nationally recognizable honor! Thank you to EVERY organization - committee - resident - volunteer - that gives of themselves through countless means to create the city that has been recognized & rightfully so. Thank you Smithsonian Magazine for this much appreciated honor.

swilson - yes, all towns have internal issues. The problem with gas/drilling is that it quickly becomes external, at least based on other towns' history (Tex, PA, CO. etc). Maybe we will somehow be magically different and still have the attributes to make the list in ten years hence

Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin' Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin'. Bob Dylan

Let's hope we are still on the list after the haze of benzene covers the city from all oil/gas drilling. Then again maybe the city could start selling gas masks with the city logo on them to make money.

Great but they don't know about Kalter, Mullen, the Armory boondoggle or the parade of meth labs we celebrate!

But, bring the dollars here so our council can waste them further!!

Let's hope people don't google the MT paper and read all the problems we're gripping about...but if one is just visiting I can see how we made the list...
