I understand that parents n the Lawrence area hate to lose their school, but be realistic. 41 students in an antiquated bldg. that is not ADA compliant makes it an easy decision for the BOE when they need to make financial cuts. It should have been done years ago when first discussed. Every district in the county has had to close elementary schools in the past....they all felt like Lawrence people do now.... bitter and upset! Accept it or the entire district may be the next to fall!

Again, I ask why you are commenting when you are from the area and didn't know about the other schools in your district? You cant be calling people morons or saying things agaist them or the school when you obviously don't know anything about it. Why are you bringing up these questions now? Don't you think you should have brought them up BEFORE the meeting Monday? Instead of asking questions AFTER it is all said and done. It sounds pretty ironic that you suddenly had to ask a question regarding that topic when it is obvious it has been a subject out of this ordeal for a while, have you not been paying attention and just jumped into the conversation because you could?

As far as I know they would assist your child's ADA. Laurie Mullins at Newport is who you would contact.

You are correct I do live in the district, but I know NOTHING about Lawrence Elem and the schools daily classes. I only know 41 kids attend the school and I believe they said approx. 31 next year? Surely one of those children are in the same boat as mine needing special attention. As a matter of fact I believe in the article states that. THAT my frontier fellow leads me to believe they MAY or MAY NOT have special education. I appreciate the answer to my question. How about ADA? Anyone know the answer to that? Can my child go to that school with a debilitating disability? Concerns. Nothing but concerns.Thinkaboutit2 no problem, and you are correct history states the lawrence community did NOT even pass this most recent levy, and it was for their own children and school. (SARCASM ALERT) Like I said in the history of NEVER has the lawrence twp. EVER passed a levy. Guess we cannot count on your vote come Nov. Shucks! (SARCASM END)

your**

Also, what does what does it matter if they haven't voted on the levy? Good. If Frontier doesn't pass the levy again and move their children out of the district, then the district loses more money. Good.

Sarcastic because if you're name is wearefrontier it is obvious that you are in the area and should know by now that the school doesn't have a special education teacher. Your comment was sarcastic because why would you ask something already knowing the answer? It was a sly tactic, I give you props for that. If you didn't know the answer to it already, which I highly doubt- then why are you on here discussing issues about a school district you don't know anything about?

As for the mourning part--a person has a right to mourn over many things. As long as it holds a significant meaning to the person, they can mourn. As to a school, if there are people who have memories that included it, or generations of family who have gone to it etc. Yes they have a right to be sad for the closing. You cant tell me you've never been upset over something that wasn't just someone dying. If so I would say you need to do a lot of soul searching.

Wearefrontie1998 you can go to the board of elections and pull the records on all of the past levy's that have been on the ballet and they reflect the way each area voted…(I.E. per township) and Lawrence townships have NEVER voted yes towards any of them!!! That is a FACT and YOU (Someone123) can check that if you would like!!! Thank you, Wearefronier1998 for the definition of mourn Someone123 seems to fit the bill!!

mourn verb (used without object) 1. to feel or express sorrow or grief. 2. to grieve or lament for the dead. 3. to show the conventional or usual signs of sorrow over a person's death. verb (used with object) 4. to feel or express sorrow or grief over (misfortune, loss, or anything regretted); deplore. 5. to grieve or lament over (the dead). 6. to utter in a sorrowful manner. One would believe you should mourn over the death of a human being and maybe even a family pet, but NOT a school. Please get a grip. BUT....I do believe everyone "Morons" differently.

Also one more for the road. Since when in the history of the world has the lawrence community alone passed a Frontier levy? My thoughts and NOW sarcastic remarks! :)

If they don't have the children going to the schools and they go to another school district, Frontier will lose money on each student they've lost. I think its a grand idea, I wouldn't send my children there either. If they lose more students and closing the school down didn't help with the financial situation, then i'll just laugh when the levy doesn't pass again and the school district has even more financial trouble.

Does Lawrence elementary have a special education program like the other schools in the district provide? I am unsure, could someone with better knowledge in this subject please provide insight?
