Marietta Library schedule

Several upcoming programs and events are planned at the Marietta Library, Washington County Public Libraries, at 615 Fifth St., Marietta.



Children’s programs

¯ Baby Time – Baby Time, which is intended for babies ages 6 months to 2 years old and their caregivers, will meet on Monday, Feb. 11 and 25.

¯ Toddler Time – Toddler Time for children ages 2 to 3 years old meets on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Parents and caregivers are asked to remain with their children during the program. The next sessions are Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

¯ Story Hour – Story Hour, for children ages 3 to 5 years old, meets each Tuesday at 10 a.m. and each Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the library meeting room. Parents and caregivers are asked to remain with their children during the program. The next sessions are on Tuesdays on Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26; and on Wednesdays, on Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

¯ Yummy Chocolate – What does a tree in the tropical rainforest and Christopher Columbus have in common? Children will find the answers to those questions and learn more chocolate facts through books and by tasting chocolate. This program, which will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the library meeting room, is for children ages 6 to 8 and a caregiver . Space is limited; registration is required. ¯ Ahoy Mates – A program featuring some buccaneer fun will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the library meeting room for children ages 3 to 5 and a caregiver. Those attending should come dressed as their favorite pirate. Space is limited; registration is required. To register, stop by the Children’s Department or call 373-1057, ext. 219.

¯ Trivia Mania: Celebrate America – Children can participate in a game of Jeopardy! and test your knowledge of America at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in the library meeting room. They will choose from categories such as history, states and famous people. Prizes and snacks will be included in the program, which is for children in the third through sixth grades. Space is limited; registration is required. To register, stop by the Children’s Department or call 373-1057, ext. 219.



Adult programs

¯ Computer classes – The schedule for computer classes for February includes “Searching the Internet,” Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m.; “Computer Basics,” Thursday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m.; “Introduction to Spreadsheets,” Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m.; “Intermediate Computing,” Thursday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m.; “Internet Security,” Thursday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. Classes are held in the library meeting room. To register, stop by the Information Desk or call 373-1057, ext. 204.

¯ Adult Book Discussion – This month the Adult Book Discussion group will be discussing “A Thread of Grace” by Mary Doria Russell at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the library meeting room. Stop by the Information Desk on the first floor to pick up a copy of the book.

¯ Winter Reading – The winter reading program will begin Feb. 4 and last through Feb. 28. Sign up for the program at the Information Desk beginning Feb. 1. Read books and turn in reviews for a weekly drawing. One prize will be awarded each week.
