BARTLETT — Eva Leona Smith, 86, of Bartlett, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday (Feb. 15, 2008) at Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 4, 1921, in Mason County, W.Va., to Gilbert and Dora King Thornton. She had lived in Bartlett since 1971, moving here from West Virginia.
She is survived by three daughters, Leona McCutcheon of Cutler, Elva Carter of Abingdon, Va., and Goldie Young (George) of Bellevue, Fla.; five sons, Cleon Smith (Loretta) of Layman, Cecil Smith (Ramonia) of Guysville, Webster Smith (Ruth) of Bartlett, Albert Smith and Elbert Smith (Jamie), both of Ironton; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Smith on March 9, 1981; they had been married on Feb. 21, 1940. She was preceded also by five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Corbitt officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Bartlett Cemetery.
