COLUMBUS — Thomas Richard Spencer, 55, passed away Friday (Feb. 15, 2008) at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 23, 1952, in Mason, W.Va., son of Gladys Wright Spencer and the late Waid Spencer of Bashan. Mr. Spencer was a physician in Meigs County for several years and loved his patients. He previously worked for a time at Imperial Electric, Gavin Power Plant and Kaiser Aluminum. He was a member of the Shade River Masonic Lodge 453 in Chester and was raised in the Chester United Methodist Church.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Dee Pickens Spencer; father-in-law, Harlis Frank; grandmother, Ester Wright; and paternal grandparents, Henry and Mae Spencer.
He is survived by his son, Jared and Kim Spencer; daughter, Janel and Greg Barker; grandchildren, Jacob and Leah Spencer and Zoie and Cassie Barker; mother, Gladys Spencer; sister, Esther Mays; brothers, Harry and Avice Spencer, and Ray and Becky Spencer; good friends, Greg, Mike and Dan; and also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Reedsville Cemetery in Reedsville, Ohio, with the Rev. Peter Martindale officiating. Visiting hours were held Monday at the Fisher Anderson McDaniel Funeral Homes in Pomeroy, Ohio.
