Fire destroys Collins Road home

February 28, 2008
Marietta Times
Firefighters are attempting to determine the cause of a morning fire that gutted a Collins Road home.

The fire was reported at 9:45 a.m. by a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the single-story block home.

It was unclear if anyone was home at the time of the fire, but the homeowners were huddled together outside the home, located at 802 Collins Road, just off Stanleyville Road.

By 11 a.m. several volunteer fire departments had the fire under control but were cutting into the roof to get access to hot spots that continued to flare.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.

Fire officials said the family did have somewhere to stay.
