County treasurer’s office will be closed

The Washington County Treasurer’s Office will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday to allow staff to attend a mandatory meeting. The office will reopen at 3 p.m., according to treasurer Dorothy Peppel.

Historical society has work day planned

The Washington County Historical Society will be having a restoration work day from 9 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Anchorage.

All groups and individuals interested, including those who may have never volunteered at the Anchorage before, are welcome. There is work for all skill levels and help of any kind is welcome.

Spring Fling 2008 will be at Ely Chapman

Spring Fling 2008 is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Ely Chapman Education Foundation, 403 Scammel St., Marietta.

The event will include the annual spring book give-away, an “Under the Sea” carnival for kids, a bake sale and a ChapBucks coffeehouse with homemade soup to be available.

MC student artists will display works

The Marietta College Art Department presents “I Am...”, the senior capstone exhibition for all graphic design and art majors of the class of 2008. The show will be from April 19 to May 17, with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. April 19, in the Hermann Fine Art Gallery on the third floor of the Hermann Fine Arts Center, Fourth and Butler streets, Marietta. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The exhibition features the work of 17 seniors: Justin Armstrong of Maryland, Courtney Bailey of Burnt House, W.Va., Brittany Dawson of Gahanna, Ohio, Angela Gindlesperger of Cleveland, Ohio, Joe Hickman of Parkersburg, Nola Juliano of Dexter City, Ohio, Jen Kozono of Cleveland, Ohio, Caroline McKean of Green Bank, W.Va., Christina Moritz of Canton, Ohio, Kelli Park of Maine, Claire Reintgen of Latrobe, Pa., Amelia Schroeder of Sarahsville, Ohio, Laure Shepard of New Hampshire, Mallory Sinoski of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Jennifer Sutton of Washington, W.Va., Paige Ward of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Dave Welch of Parkersburg.

Meeting set at Area Agency on Aging

The Regional Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, in the Buckeye Hills-HVRDD Area Agency on Aging office in Marietta.
