Annual softball event rescheduled for today

The second annual Community Softball Day at Marietta College has been rescheduled for today due to inclement weather Sunday. Gates will open at 1:30 p.m., with food being served at 4:30 p.m. at Marietta Field. Students in the sports promotion class will hand out 700 T-shirts during the doubleheader against Wilmington. The game starts at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Group meeting to go over mapping system

Friends of Lower Muskingum River will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room E108 at Washington State Community College.

B.J. Harper, GIS intern from Hocking College, will discuss the GIS mapping that he is working on for the group’s land trust properties, for the nitrate reduction project and for watershed management. The public is invited.

Community invited to health fair on Friday

A community health fair, sponsored by the Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Friday in the dining room at the Lafayette Hotel. Blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol checks will be provided.

Presbyterian church is having a yard sale

VETO — Veto Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church at Ohio 339 and Veto Road (Washington County 3).

The event, which will be held rain or shine, will feature baked goods, as well as children’s clothing, toys and household items. All proceeds will go to the church’s building fund.

Everyone is welcome to stop by to see the recently completed sanctuary.

Devola church having lunch, giveaway day

DEVOLA — Putnam Congregational Church is holding a free “Lunch and Giveaway Day” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church at 707 Masonic Park Road, Devola.

Household items, as well as clothing, will be available. Each person will also receive a ticket for door prizes.
