Woman dies in early morning fire

Passerby noticed flames on County Road 6

The Barlow fire department responded to a house fire on County Road six in Fairfield Township a 6 a.m. this morning.

According to reports from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, a passing bus driver saw the fire and made a call to the Belpre 911 system.

Rosemary Hall, 76, died in the fire, according to Sheriff’s reports, and the incident remains under investigation, with the fire marshal on scene. According to Mark Hiatt with the Sheriff's office, they are in the "extreme preliminary stages of the investigation" and are "trying to pinpoint the fire's origin." More information will be posted when it becomes available.
