Bureau celebrates area’s tourism
From staff reportsThe Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau planned to formally unveil its new advertising campaign during National Tourism Week with a special ceremony at 10 a.m. today at The Framing Gallery on Front Street.
Marietta is joining hundreds of cities, states and travel-related businesses nationwide the week of May 10 to 18 in recognition of the value and impact of the nation’s travel industry, as well as the economic and social contributions it brings to Washington County.
Several area attractions will provide special deals on admission prices for “Rediscover Marietta Day” Thursday in honor of the 25th annual National Tourism Week.
Several attractions will offer free or discounted admission throughout the day to visitors.
Locations with free admission for the day include:
¯ The Castle, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
¯ The Anchorage, 2:30 to 5 p.m.
¯ Henry Fearing House, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..
¯ Children’s Toy and Doll Museum, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
¯ Colony Theatre tours, 2 and 3 p.m.
¯ Specials offered for the day include a Valley Gem sternwheeler “Back in Time” event from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. with admission at $5 per person; and trolley tours, at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (reservations available) at a cost of $5 per person.
