Doghouse adding massage therapy

POSTED: May 13, 2008

The Doghouse on Hill Street in Whipple offers dog day care and boarding, and will soon be offering canine massage therapy as well.

The business will be specializing in integrative massage therapy for dogs.

Tara Miller, owner, will be receiving her certification in canine massage from Integrated Touch Therapy Inc. in June. She is also certified in canine first aid and CPR and is an AKC licensed CGC evaluator.

Stress affects everyone, including dogs, she said. Long hours at home alone or infrequent exercise can be very stressful for some dogs and massage can help to destress them. Massage can also help with other situations, such as when dogs have surgery, injuries or chronic problems, and can be calming for some hyperactive dogs.
