Glenna ‘Granny’ Misel

BEVERLY — Glenna Jean “Granny” Misel, 87, of Bevelry, died at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday (May 14, 2008) at Muskingum Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation, Beverly.

She was born May 27, 1920, in Morgan County, Ohio, a daughter of Ed Hayward and Nancy Iverne Francis Stewart. She had worked at Fairview Manor Nursing Home in Beverly as a nurse’s aid for 25 years. She attended Beverly High School. She was a longtime member as well as the last founding member of the Stitch and Chatter Quilting Club. She was a member of the Dungannon United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, wife, and devoted mother.

On June 23, 1941, she married Clinton John Misel, who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1993.

She is survived by three sons, Robert “Rob” Misel and wife, Debbie, of Lowell, Joe Misel and wife, Alice, of Beverly, and Jack Misel and wife, Debbie, of Beverly; three daughters, Frances Louise Hupp of Belpre, Jeanette de Chantel of Titusville, Fla., and Juanita “Poke” Wilcoxen of Lowell; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Stewart and wife, Elizabeth, of Brownsville, Ohio, and Donald Stewart of Coal Run; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Francis, William, and Robert Stewart; and three sisters, Beulah Stewart, DeEtte Clark, and Nina Wells.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McCurdy Funeral Home, Beverly, with the Rev. Walter Jones officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Friday.
