POSTED: June 28, 2008

Three area men were indicted by a Washington County grand jury Friday for raping minors and other related charges, including a Marietta man who is accused of leading a 16-year-old boy into the woods and attacking him.

The grand jury returned indictments on 29 people Friday.

Clayton L. Books, 28, last known address 812 1/2 Fourth St., was indicted on five felony counts of rape, attempted rape and kidnapping after he allegedly encountered a 16-year-old boy while both were filling out job applications at a fast food restaurant. Books allegedly led the boy into the woods on South Seventh Street under the pretense of visiting another job site and raped him.

"He's facing a total maximum of between 28 and 30 years," said Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Susan Vessels.
