Marietta High to
host football camp
Marietta High School will be conducting a football camp for anyone entering fourth through eighth grades. Camp dates are July 21 to 23, and run from 9 a.m. to noon. The camp will be run by the Marietta High staff and players, and will take place on the MHS practice field. Emphasis will be placed on the fundamentals of all positions and skills involved. Individual attention will be provided with station work throughout the camp. Games will be played by age group at the end of each day. Each camper will receive a Tiger football T-shirt and daily awards and prizes will be given. Cost of the camp is $30. Registration forms are available at mariettafootball.com.

Waterford PeeWee football camp
The Waterford PeeWee Football Association football camp is July 28 to 31 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Waterford Fairgrounds.
Camp cost is $40 and the camp is open to any interested athletes going into fourth, fifth or sixth grades.

MC soccer camp to
be held July 22-25
The Marietta College Soccer Camp will be held July 22 to 25 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is $80 per person. The camp is available to all kids ages 6 to 15 who are interested in improving their soccer skills. Pre-registration is recommended because the camp is quickly filling up.

District VIII softball tourney July 26-27
The Ohio State District VIII State Men's 35 and Over Softball Tournament will be held July 26 and 27 at Hadley Softball Complex and Buckeye Park.
Entry fee is $200.
The deadline for the tournament drawing is July 24.
Plaques will be awarded to first and second place teams and T-shirts will be awarded to the first place team.

State women's
softball tourney set
The Ohio District VIII State Women's Softball Class E tournament will be held July 26 and 27 at Hadley Softball Complex and Buckeye Park. Entry fee is $200.

Waterford to have volleyball camp
Waterford High School is sponsoring a volleyball camp from July 21 to 24 at the Cooper Annex at Waterford Elementary School.
The camp will be run by Don Miller, the head coach at Waterford with 18 years of experience. The camp is limited to non-Waterford girls going into seventh, eighth and ninth grades this fall.
Emphasis will be on fundamental individual and team skills.
The camp will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day except for Monday when registration starts at 8:30 a.m. There will be a lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
For meals players may wish to bring a sack lunch, fruit and drinks which can be kept in a refrigerator or go to a nearby restaurant if an adult accompanies them.Cost is $60. Players need to bring a pair of shoes and may wish to bring extra socks, shorts and shirts, a towel and water bottle.

Ohio Express club
to hold hoops clinic
The Ohio Express Girls Basketball Club will be holding a clinic Sunday. There will be a session from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. for girls in third to sixth grades and a session from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for girls in seventh-12th grades.
Instruction will be offered in ball handling, shooting, footwork, and defensive drills.
The clinics will continue every Sunday evening throughout the summer at the Maysville administration building located at 2805 Pinkerton Lane, Zanesville.

holding tryouts
Coast to Coast Baseball is holding tryouts for players ages 10 to 18 to represent the USA in competition in Puerto Rico.
After the tryouts a three-hour hitting camp will be held the same day.
Tryouts will be held at Bowling Green St. University Perry Fieldhouse at 10 a.m. July 20, at Kent State University's Kent State Fieldhouse at 10 a.m. July 30, at Sports Ohio indoor facility in Dublin at 10 a.m. August 9 and at Diamond Indoor Sports in Westlake at noon August 10.
Hitting camp is at 2 p.m. July 20, 30 and August 9 and 4 p.m. August 10.
Tryout cost is $25, the hitting camp is $50 and both events are $65.

Road race to be
held in Caldwell
A 5K road race at the annual Caldwell Firemen's Festival will be held on the square in Caldwell at 7 p.m. July 25. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. The entry fee is $15 pre-registration received by July 21. It's $20 on race day.

Ohio U. to host
baseball camps
Ohio University will host baseball camps Aug. 23 and Oct. 4. The camps are for players who will graduate in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Cost is $205 per player.

YMCA sponsoring
a series of fun runs
The Marietta Family YMCA is sponsoring Wednesday evening fun runs through July 23, at 6 p.m.
Marietta High School cross country coach M. Dale Leeper, a longtime distance runner, developed the Fun Run several years ago.
Runners gather at the entrance to the Broughton Wildlife Refuge on Ohio 821 about a half mile above Ohio 60.
Participants run one or two miles depending upon age.
Popsicles are provided for participants. Runners participating in at least four of the six events receive a T-shirt at season end.
Registration is $2 for Y members, $3 for others. Youth running one mile are $1 for Y members, $2 for others.

OVU to host soccer boys/girls camp
Ohio Valley University is hosting the Total Soccer Camp for boys and girls ages 9 to 12 from July 14 to July 18.
Campers will receive coaching and training in a variety of focus areas including player skills, defensive and offensive team tactics as well as playing team games and competitions.
Campers will be split into groups of 10 to 20 players each with two counselors per group.
The camp will take place at the OVU practice fields on the main campus in Vienna, W.Va.,from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day.
Cost is $85 and a $10 discount will be given for each additional camper from the same family.

Cambridge will host a 13 to 14-year-old Babe Ruth baseball tournament at Don Coss Field July 25 through July 27.
