VINCENT - The Warren Local Board of Education hired a new Little Hocking Elementary principal at its meeting Monday to replace retiring administrator Tom Ellsworth.

Barbara Augustine, currently the curriculum supervisor for the district, had a three-year contract approved for the position at a salary of $62,000 plus benefits.

Augustine, an Ohio Valley Educational Service Center employee, has been contracted to work in the Warren district for the last six years and worked at the Washington County Career Center prior to that.

"I'm just really excited to get back to the building level," she said about taking the principal position. "I'm looking forward to working with teachers and students and families again."

Augustine, a Parkersburg resident, said she's already familiar with many of the staff members and students at the school through her work at the district level.

"I think it will be a very natural transition," she said.

Augustine's contract at Little Hocking is effective Aug.1.

She was one of several applicants to interview for the position, said board member Dan McDermott.

"The committee and myself both thought she was the person for the job," he said.

Also at Monday's meeting, the board approved the retirement of Warren High School Assistant Principal Warren Carter.
